学联合作项目志愿者招募！

大英博物馆中国馆馆藏珍品将于2010年5月22日至9月5日在York Art Gallery进行展出。在此期间，York Art Gallery面向广大学生朋友，特别是中国留学生朋友，提供志愿者作机会，在服务当地英国人的同时，有机会了解Art Gallery的日常运作以及参与展会的策划与进行。York CSSA代表Art Gallery, 期待约克地区中国留学生的加入，位置有限，有意者请速报名！具体安排如下：

All drop-in sessions run from 11-1 and 2-4. We ask volunteers to arrive at 10:30 to meet the artist and to help with set-up and to stay to help tidy up after the event.

A volunteer is needed to help out in the Studio with artist led drop-in art workshops, aimed at the general public and particularly popular with families. These sessions link with the exhibition, China, and will involve different activities each week, reflecting the themes of the exhibition. The volunteer will assist by getting the Studio space and materials ready; maintaining the availability of materials throughout the day and keeping the workspace reasonably tidy; talking to the public about the session.

A volunteer is needed to help out in the Studio with drop-in art workshops, aimed at the general public and particularly popular with families. The day is part of the events programme for the Chinaexhibition and involves “the legend of the origins of the Milky Way and finding out more about Chinese astronomy from a real astronomer and using chalks and pastel to create your own starry skies.” The volunteer will assist by getting the Studio space and materials ready; maintaining the availability of materials throughout the day and keeping the workspace reasonably tidy; talking to the public about the session.

Handling Boxes

Any day during the school holidays (Saturday 24 July to Tuesday 31 August)

Any time (10am – 5pm)

Training event: Monday 19July 2:00pm – 3:30pm

We are looking for volunteers who would like to talk to the general public, in the Art Gallery, about Chinese culture and show them a selection of Chinese objects.

Objects will be in boxes which can be accessed by the volunteers at any time. The volunteer will go into the main gallery exhibition space and talk to the general public about the exhibition, China: Journey to the East and show them the objects.

英国约克大学精英培训计划

约克大学复杂系统分析科学中心（YCCSA）现提供不同学科的课程培训计划，包括管理学，生物医药，计算机科学，电子工程，高等数学，社会科学等，其主要目标人群包括了留英学子，旅英华人，国内政府及高企的负责人。

York University Professional Training Programme

The York Centre for Complex Systems Analysis (YCCSA) offer a range of courses including Management, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics and Sociology. The main goal of YCCSA programme is to build managerial skills in managing complexity. To this we plan to offer a four (4) day course that will provide the following:

· provide attendees with an introduction into the fundamental concepts of managing complex projects;

· describe the transition from real business problems, through simulated field study analysis and model development;

· provide attendees with the practical experience of managing complexity to real work situations.

The subjects including: Leadership skills , People management skills , Project and programme management skills , Skills for analysing and using evidence, Financial management skills, Strategic thinking skills, Communications and marketing skills, Creative and Problem Solving Skills , Key corporate skills and Ethical practice skills.

These courses have been developed by representatives from industry together with academics from the University of York.

The intended audience for this course is Engineers, Scientists, Managers and other staff in hi-tech companies and organisations, as well as students and scholars. In particular it is aimed at those who would like develop a comprehensive insight into the main aspects of knowledge management and to equip themselves with the practical skills to build or begin the introduction of knowledge management interventions within their organisation.

Delegates will receive a University of York (YCCSA) Certificate of Attendance after the course finished.

第一天	伦敦 – 巴黎早上，我们在伦敦的EUSTON火车站集合，乘坐专门的大巴来到英国的多佛港，由导游把我们带上轮渡领略英吉利海峡的风光，前往法国的加莱港。抵达后，接船的地面的导游将会驱车带我们前往巴黎，开始游览巴黎。巴黎市中心观光，配合导游在车上的全面讲解，我们将带您参观埃菲尔铁塔（二层自费参观）、拿破仑军事博物馆-荣军院、坐落在西提岛上的巴黎圣母院（自费入内参观）、法俄友谊象征-亚历山大桥、协和广场、巴黎歌剧院、瓦多姆广场、香榭丽舍大街、凯旋门（自费登顶参观）。然后在凯旋门或老佛爷附近自由活动，回酒店入住。晚上，有兴致的您可以选择自费项目：观赏巴黎著名夜总会-红磨坊歌舞表演。	9 座商务巴士	3*巴黎酒店

Chinese New Year Lunar Gala - Grand Opera House, York - 27/02/10

The spectacle that awaited me at the York Grand Opera House last Saturday was not something I ever expected to experience in York. If someone had tapped me on the shoulder and told me I was still in York, I would have been surprised. The cultural transformation was all encompassing – the programs were in Chinese, the audience was Chinese and half the show was in Chinese.

The effect was so realistic that it felt like I was actually in China watching the traditional Lunar celebrations. Not being able to understand the commentary by the magnificently dressed presenters and sitting through a half hour stand up comedy act in Chinese enhanced the visual performances considerably. For those of you who have taken a gap year, you’ll understand the awe that comes with being entirely immersed into another culture.

The acts themselves were breathtaking. Shao Lin monks broke steel rods against their heads and thick wooden sticks against their chests to the delight of the audience. The Lion Dance was extremely impressive, with two people rolling around and doing acrobatic stunts underneath a lion costume. Unless you’ve seen one yourself, it is impossible to convey the beauty of the traditional Lion Dance well performed.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the show was the acrobats. Three girls contorted themselves into the most ridiculous positions and demonstrated extreme strength. It was the kind of performance that belongs in the Cirque de Soleil, not a one off show.

The Chinese Student and Scholar Association deserve tremendous congratulations for their organisation of such a high quality, smoothly orchestrated spectacle. The result would rival other student productions, such as York Come Dancing, in its presentation.

Perhaps the only setback was the failure of more British students to attend. Stemming from the misconception that such cultural events are for international students rather than British ones, many missed out on a performance worthy of any professionals.

Indeed my reluctant plus one who came along out of duty rather than desire came away very pleasantly surprised. For a University full of students who travel madly and enjoy culture, never forget to look close to home when in search of novel experiences!

The Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) are culminating a two week intensive program of cultural celebration with the Lunar New Year Gala this Saturday. Taking place in the York Grand Opera House, the event will showcase Si-chuan traditional drama face swapping, Tibetan dancing and Shao-ling Kung Fu among other acts.

Bringing in the year of the tiger, CSSA have hosted a series of workshops over the past fortnight bringing York students into contact with various aspects of Chinese culture ranging from tea degustation to calligraphy lessons.

The society strives to entertain both Chinese students currently studying at the University of York as well as British students with an interest for international culture. Meizi Liu, President of the CSSA told the Yorker “I would encourage all British friends to attend, as this Saturday might be the only chance to see many of the splendid performances, and a rare opportunity to know more about a modern China of great antiquity.”

This Saturday marks the end of another year of Chinese New Year celebrations that are traditionally famous for their vibrancy and liveliness. CSSA have worked enthusiastically to bring some of the passion that is integral to celebrations in China to the York Grand Opera House. Liu commented “regarding to the Gala, every year we try to invite different performances which are rare to see in the UK, and come up with something that caters for students' tastes.”

The highlights of this year’s performance include Kung Fu and Hard Qigong performed by Shao Lin Monks from China, award-winning acrobatic performances by the Lantern Contort Dance and an act called Strength which combines Chinese music and dance with western pop. There will also be a lion dance opening the performance.

A popular yearly event attended by students from both York universities and locals alike, this promises to be an enjoyable end to the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Tickets are available tomorrow between 12.30pm and 2pm in Vanbrugh Foyer. £8 for non-members, £5 for members. Lunar New Year Gala is on Saturday Week 7, 7.30pm York Grand Opera House.

2009-2010年度“21世纪中英创业计划大赛”于09年10月30日于约克大学启动以来，进展顺利，多个中英科技团队踊跃报名参加，多方赞助的大赛总奖金已经达到10万元，国资委属上海虹口商业资产有限公司向组委会承诺，有机会向大赛中涌现的优秀项目提供100万英镑的风险投资资金。

本届大赛在中英两地均启动大赛开幕式，12月18日，大赛中国赛区在重庆市科协，共青团重庆赛区的主办下顺利召开。在10月30日英国约克大学开幕式中，中国驻英使馆张立荣公使衔参赞出席开幕式并发表主题演讲，介绍了今年以来中英关系的进展情况，表示在当前的金融危机下，中英两国更需要加强合作，也面临着新的合作机遇。两国在科技、教育、经贸等领域的合作潜力巨大，希望两国高校、工商界，发挥创造力，丰富双方的合作形式。张立荣希望大赛为鼓励科技创新和创业、为加强中英交流与合作做出贡献。

少林武僧显神功，此处为大家特地带来少林寺的当家绝活，硬气功表演。心口碎大石，咽喉破棍纷纷不在话下，各位可不要太吃惊了哦！

约克大学璀璨的演艺之星，同时也是风采之夜的耀眼明珠，将会再次展示她的天籁之音，以一首美声独唱《让世界赞美你》为大家谢幕，祝各位在虎年里能够万事如意，虎虎生威！

The York's Chinese New Year's Gala is the biggest and influential New Year celebration events in York. We are glad to perform a unprecedented show with a great amount of splendid program such as Si-chuan traditional drama face swapping, Tibetan dancing present by York girls; amazing acrobatics as well as Shao-ling Kung Fu and lion dance. All the brilliant shows that you never see, so why hesitate to get a ticket now!

3, Cross-Talk 20mins

Cross-Talk is a traditional entertainment in China; it is performed by two people having comic dialogue on the stage. This year CSSA have invited one of the best Cross-Talk societies in the UK, Cambridge Cross-Talk Society to give us a fantastic show. Let us all look forward to enjoy it.

4, Acrobatics 15mins

Acrobatics is also regard as a traditional act since ancient China; in this year’s Gala we could see the miracle of Lantern contort dance, fancy plate swing and etc. Do not miss it!

5, Black & White (Chinese rap show) 4mins

6, Qigong 10mins

If I tell you a person can break a wand with his neck, you may not believe it, but how about a group of people can all do that? Qigong is a branch of Kung Fu, this year Shao Lin monks wil show us how brilliant they are in the achievement of Qigong. Let us see!

7, Chorus (Song undecided) 3mins

康桥相声社确认加盟约克虎年春晚！

康桥相声社由剑桥工程系博士咸威于07年创建，他的搭档和社员均来自康桥河畔，在剑桥春晚上登场演出后，一炮而红，名声迅速地在英国华人圈中打响，受到越来越多人的喜爱。

社长咸威自小就有口技的天赋，12岁学习相声，15岁学习口技，17岁学习快板……

高三的时候，考取了全国一级艺术特长生。那时，他每天要花两个小时来练相声。

到现在，他已经参加了上百场的演出。

他们坚持自己创作，贴近生活，把游子的感受融入到相声里，很容易引起观众的共鸣。

他们的演出门票如今以越来越快的速度出售一空。今年，康桥相声社首次登场约克舞台，必将用精彩纷呈的相声段子，为你带来满场欢笑！
